Kabul (Pajhwok): Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Amir Khan Muttaqi has termed Afghanistan a good market for Iran’s industrial goods, calling for creation of more facilities in areas of trade and transit between the two countries.
Hafiz Zia Ahmad Takal, MoFA deputy spokesman said Muttaqi met with a seven-member delegation of Iran’s House of Representatives – led by Jawad Karimi Qudousi – yesterday in Kabul.
He added Muttaqi in the meeting said trade on with countries, including neighboring nations, was going well and Afghanistan was becoming the center of connectivity between the regional countries.
Muttaqi emphasized that Afghanistan was a good market for Iran’s industrial goods, so it was necessary for both countries to create more facilities in trade and transit sectors and take full advantage of this opportunity.
He also said after the Islamic Emirate’s takeover, security has been insured across the country and Afghan security forces were able destroy Daesh terrorist group in Afghanistan and the overall security not only benefitted Afghanistan, but the region and the world at large.
He added the caretaker government had taken serious measures against narcotics and had brought the cultivation of poppy to zero.
Muttaqi said: “During the previous Islamic Emirate government, Afghanistan had only a few thousands drug addicts, but during the past 20-years of occupation, this number reached four million. The IEA has started treating addicts and in last few months 100,000 addicts were and the process continues.”
Takal said members of the House of Representatives of Iran said that both sides should work together and find a solution to smuggling, managing border affairs and preventing the movement of unauthorized people.
According to Takal, they said Iran was ready to share its experiences with the IEA in many areas
