Swisscross Foundation offers to build cardiology hospital

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Economy (MoE) says the head of a Swiss-based institution has promised to build a standard cardiology hospital in Afghanistan.

Prof Enrique Steiger, head of the Swisscross Foundation, and the delegation he led met Minister of Economy Qari Din Mohammad Hanif.

The visiting team also included Prof Raul Robert Vogt, Walter Kenzi, Diego Matteo, Mohammad Hussain Aktashi and Mohammad Saber Hashmi, the ministry said.

Steiger briefed Din Mohammad Hanif on activities of the foundation in the field of treating heart diseases, burns and skin ailments. He sought permission for the foundation’s operations in Afghanistan as an NGO.

He pledged efforts for training young Afghan doctors on treating cardiac issues, burn injuries and orthopedics and creating a well-equipped hospital for the treatment of heart diseases in Afghanistan.

While appreciating the foundation’s gesture, the acting minister replied the Islamic Emirate was ready to cooperate in this regard.
