AIBAK (Pajhwok): About 300 women have been provided with work opportunities in northern Samangan province, the dried fruit trader association says.
Abdul Khaliq, head of the t association, said more than 300 poor women worked in the processing of almonds.
“Every year, we make contracts with one of the companies in the almond processing section, this year, like previous years, we made a contract with a company for processing almonds and the dried fruit is processed by 300 poor women,” he added.
Khaliq said Samangan almond was famous in the world and efforts were being made to purchase almonds from gardeners against reasonable price.
Meanwhile, Samira, a worker, said she was happy with her job that helped her somehow solve her economic problems.
Rokhshana, another female worker, said women were provided with work opportunity amid economic problems and unemployment in the country.
These female workers urged the local administration and other institutions in Samangan to support needy women and provide them with employment opportunities so they could overcome their economic problems.
Maulvi Firuzuddin Munib, head Samangan information and culture director, told Pajhwok that providing women with jobs by the association was a good development and the government should also support women.
