Alternative Kabul-Jalalabad route opened: MoD

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Defence (MoD) says an alternative route has been established for passengers until the reopening of the Kabul-Jalalabad highway.

In a statement, MoD said a mud and rock slide had shut the key highway in Mahipar area and an alternative route had been opened for passengers.

It said the engineering teams of 313rd MoD Corps had reached area with equipment to reopen the road.

The ministry added in coordination with a team of the Public Works Ministry, they had opened substitute route for passengers.

A mud and rock slide closed the Kabul-Jalalabad highway three kilometers from the Kabul Gate area on Saturday night.
