LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Two children were killed and as many injured when a leftover mortar shell they were playing with exploded in Garamsir district of southern Helmand province yesterday, an official said on Tuesday.
Maulvi Mohammad Qasim Riaz, deputy Information and culture director, told Pajhwok Afghan News the blast happened in Amir Agha area of Garamsir district.
The shell exploded while the children were playing with it, Riaz said.
The injured children were taken to Emergency-run hospital in Lashkargah and their injuries were not life-threatening, he added.
