HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Some beggars and street children rounded up earlier in western Herat province have completed a vocational training programme, an official said on Sunday.
Hafiz Mirza Mohammad, head of the Work and Social Affairs Department, welcomed the support of some NGOs in this regard and told Pajhwok Afghan News 350 beggars and street children earlier rounded up had completed their vocational training programme.
He said efforts were underway to identify deserving beggars, round them up and provide them with vocational training with the support of aid providing NGOs.
Faridon Hamidi, acting head of the Help Germany during the certificate distribution ceremony said that they were committed to support these types of programmes.
He said every certificate holder was provided with the necessary tools on which they could work in the future.
The six months long vocational training was conducted in coordination between the Social Affairs Department, UNICEF and Help Germany organization.
