KABUL (Pajhwok): Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi has left for Russia at the head of a high-level delegation to take part in the upcoming Moscow-format meeting.

Slated for Sept. 29, meeting in Kazan city would discuss a range of political and economic topics, IEA spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid told a private broadcaster.

Speaking to TOLOnews, Mujahid said: “Regional cooperation is crucial for Afghanistan’s economy and security.”

Apart from economic issues in Afghanistan’s reconstruction, concerns of neighbouring countries would also come up for discussion, he said, without going into details.

Ways of addressing the challenges that Afghanistan is currently facing will be on the agenda.

Earlier in the week, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said he hoped neighbours would confer on how they could help Afghanistan overcome its current difficulties.

Intra-Afghan reconciliation, regional security and post-conflict reconstruction are also expected to figure at the meeting.

Russia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are part of the group, which last met in November 2022.
