PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Asked to leave Pakistan by the end of the current month, illegal Afghan citizens have started returning to their homeland via the Torkham crossing.
More than 30 Afghan families -- about 1,000 individuals -- left Pakistan over the past couple of days, Torkham-based officials say.
One official linked the abrupt increase in return of Afghan families to the ultimatum set by the caretaker Pakistani administration.
He noted voluntary returns generally slumped with the advent of winter in Afghanistan. The trend, however, is rising in the wake of the new deadline.
