KABUL (Pajhwok): Pine nuts weighing 60 tons and worth four million US dollars were Sunday dispatched to China from Kabul during a special ceremony.

Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment vice-president Yunas Momand told the ceremony that this was the first time this year that 60 tons of pine nuts were exported to China.

He added daily 60 to 100 tons of pine nut would be exported abroad until the dried fruit’s season ended.

Momand said Afghan traders directly exported pine nuts to foreign countries for a third year in a row through air corridors at their own expense and without any foreign support.

Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund said they were grateful to countries committed to developing bilateral economic and trade relations with Afghanistan.

He said security was crucial to a country’s development and reacing self-sufficiency.

Baradar said the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan desired good relations with neighboring countries, regional countries and the world based on mutual respect and interaction.

He also said that mistreating Afghan refugees in neighboring countries was unacceptable and these countries should be committed to mutual respect.

According to the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment, 2000 to 3000 tons of pine nuts were exported to different countries since last year.
