KABUL (Pajhwok): A delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Maulvi Abdul Ghani Baradar has left for the quake-rattled western Herat province, his office said on Monday.
Baradar’s office wrote on its X handle that the delegation would visit the earthquake-hit areas, including Zinda Jan and Ghorian districts.
The deputy premier will visit the affected areas, provide emergency aid to survivors and issue instructions to local officials for the fair distribution of assistance.
The Disaster Management Authority says so far 2,053 people have been killed by the devastating tremors.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) wrote on its X handle that it had sent medicine and medical supplies to Herat hospitals for the treatment of the injured. It promised providing further necessary assistance.
