KABUL (Pajhwok): The contract of Zinda Jan Cement Production factory in western Herat province has been signed between the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum (MoMP) and a local company on Sunday.
Shaikh Shahabuddin Dilawar, Mines and Petroleum minister, said $124 million would be invested by the cement production factory in Zindajan.
He said the contract had been inked for five year and as many as 5,000 people would be provided with direct work opportunity in this factory.
Ghulam Rabani, deputy head of the Gulbahar Group Company, said in current circumstances there was need for investment in Afghanistan and cooperate with government and people seriously.
He said modern machinery should be used in the cement production to meet the current day demand.
He said their information showed that this factory produced one million tonnes of cement in one year and efforts would be made to increase the production to meet the local and export demands.
Khan Jan Alkozai, deputy head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industries, said cement played vital role in the development of the country. Besides steel cement was also vital for construction.
The development comes that on Thursday the $220 million contract of Jabal Seraj Cement factory was also signed with a Qatar based company.
