KABUL (Pajhwok): The acting interior minister believes Japan could play a constructive role in the reconstruction of Afghanistan.
Interior Ministry spokesman Mufti Abdul Matin Qane wrote in his X handle that Sirajuddin Haqqani made the remarks at a meeting with Japan’s new ambassador Takayoshi Kormaya.
Qane said Japan’s former ambassador Takashi Okada was also present at the meeting with Haqqani:
“Considering relations between the two countries, Japan can play an important role in the reconstruction of Afghanistan,” the minister commented.
Meanwhile, the outgoing ambassador lamented life losses in the devastating earthquake in Herat and promised to collect four million dollars in aid for the victims.
