KABUL (Pajhwok): Turkish Chargé d’Affaires to Afghanistan Cenk Ünal during an introductory meeting with acting Interior Minister Serajuddin Haqqani pledged Ankar’s support for the people of Afghanistan in difficult times, according to a statement on Wednesday.
The Ministry of Interior (MoI) on its Twitter handle wrote during the meeting the Turkish envoy informed about the arrival of a train with humanitarian aid to Afghanistan for earthquake victims.
Referring to the historic relationship between the two countries, the Turkish envoy said: “Both nations have shared values that laid the foundation of strong relationship and promoting these relationships was our duty, Turkiye will stand by Afghanistan in difficult times.”
He hailed the Islamic ‘Emirate of Afghanistan’ (IEA) efforts in the area of security and counter narcotics and said situation was being improved in Afghanistan with each passing day.
Turkish chargé d’Affaires said that eighth train with humanitarian aid items will arrive in Afghanistan which will provide humanitarian aid to the people of Afghanistan.
This comes that earlier Afghanistan Embassy in Ankara said 508 tonnes of aid items --- blankets, heaters, generators and food items ---- would be dispatched in a train by Turkish government to Herat in 15 days.
