KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) says more than 20,000 people contracted Covid-19 during the past ten months, with 108 of them losing battle for life.
Meanwhile, due to cold weather, the number of people suffering from dropsy and pneumonia has also increased.
Dr. Sharaft Zaman, MoPH spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News about 20,535 people got infected with Covid-19 during the past ten months and 108 of them died from complications caused by the infection.
He said about 49,670 people were infected with Covid-19 in 2022 and 494 of them died from the virus.
Sharafat advised citizens not to forget wearing masks, washing hands frequently with soap and to keep social distance, use warm liquids and vitamin C.
Meanwhile, Dr. Faridullah Omari, a specialist at the Antani Hospital in Kabul city, said that corona patients were still visiting their hospital.
He added: "Still people suffering from the virus come to me, they test positive, but unlike the past, the patients are not mixed and they do not have much respiratory problems."
He also recommended exercise, use of warm liquids and masks for people suffering from the virus.
Coronavirus, which first broke out in Wuhan, China, three years ago, has spread almost worldwide. Hundreds of millions of people were infected worldwide, with four million losing their lives.
Since its outbreak in Afghanistan, coronavirus has killed some 7,000 people from among 210,000 infected persons, according to MoPH.
