FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): About 600 domestic and foreign tourists have visited historical places in western Ghor provinces in the past seven months, an official said on Monday.
Director of Information and Culture Maulvi Abdul Hai Zaeem told Pajhwok Afghan News: “Out of the 600 tourists, 160 were foreigners and the rest domestic.”
He noted a spike in the number of tourists from different countries visiting the province.
According to him, last year 27 foreign tourists had visited Ghor. But this year, the number of foreign visitors has increased.
“After the re-establishment of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, the number of domestic and foreigners visiting rare sites such as the Jam Minaret and other ancient places has risen,” Zaeem added.
Over 600 historical sites existed in Ghor and 370 other areas are registered with the Information and Culture Department.
