KABUL (Pajhwok): The United Nations Children Emergency Fund (UNICEF) says Pakistan and Afghanistan are the only two countries where polio remains endemic.
The Presidential Palace wrote on its X handle that Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs Maulvi Abdul Salam Hanafi met with Sanjay Wijesekera, UNICEF Chief for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, and Chris Elias, President of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, Wijesekera expressed UNICEF’s unwavering commitment to the global eradication of polio. Pleading for cooperation, he urged the Islamic Emirate to actively participate in the fight against the disease in Afghanistan . . .
