FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): Travelers arriving from other provinces to western Farah province say there is no guesthouse and inn to stay for night in Farah city, the provincial capital.

Abdul Wahid, coming all the way from Badghis province, he worked in a local organization and his trip to Farah was part of his job, but he could hardy find a place in Farah City to spend night.

He said: “I commute to Farah where no inns and guesthouses exist for travellers”.

Abdul Wahid asked the government to build standard guesthouses for travelers to spend nights.

Ahmad, a resident of western Ghor province, said he was a taxi driver in Farah and travelers often spent nights in cars due to lack of inns.

“Farah is a large and commercial province, but unfortunately no hotel and inns are available here. Hundreds of traders and drivers commute to Shaikh Abu Nasr Farabi dry port,” Ahmad said.

Farah Chamber of Commerce and Investment officials say they have a plan to build a standard guesthouse and efforts to find land for the guesthouse are being made.

Head of the chamber, Din Mohammad, said: “We have talked to the municipality many times to demand land, but we are yet to be given a suitable land”.

On the other hand, municipality officials said only one guesthouse existed in Farah city for government officials and they planned to build a new guesthouse.

Mayor Mohammad Wali Idrees told Pajhwok Afghan News: “We have one guesthouse and we plan to have a standard guesthouse building”.

The issue of lack of guesthouse would be solved in the near future, he added.
