KABUL (Pajhwok): The World Food Programme (WFP) provided 350,000 tons of food assistance to vulnerable people in Afghanistan last year, the organization said on Sunday.
WFP today wrote on its X handle: “No matter how difficult the terrain is, WFP always finds a way to deliver”.
In 2023, WFP trucks transported more than 350K metric tons of food across #Afghanistan to reach the most vulnerable people.”
Earlier, UN in its latest report has declared Afghanistan among countries facing food insecurity.
According to the UN report of released on December 11 last year, 258 million people in 53 countries, including Afghanistan, did not enjoy food security in 2023.
According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), more than 29 million Afghans have been in need of humanitarian assistance since 2023, and this number increased with the expulsion of thousands of refugees from Pakistan and Iran.
