NEILI (Pajhwok): Construction work on a 4.27-kilometre-long road has been completed at a cost of more than 15 million afghanis in central Daikundi province, an official said on Monday.
Ahmad Shah Ehsani, Daikundi Public Works director, told Pajhwok Afghan News the road was put into service in Sieh Baghal area of Patu district in the presence of local officials.
He said the cost of the project was paid by the Ministry of Public Works (MoPW) and it took four months to complete.
Deputy governor Maulvi Ehasanullah Rahmatyar told the inaugural ceremony the local administration was paying special attention to the construction and repair of roads in the province.
He said work on the newly completed road was started four months ago and hoped its completion would resolve people’s problems.
On the other hand, residents of Patu district said they were happy with the construction of the road.
Haji Malim, a resident, said they had been facing several problems due the deteriorated condition of the road.
Daikundi is a mountainous province where roads are in a dilapidated condition.
