SHEBERGHAN (Pajhwok): A health clinic has been constructed at a cost of 23.7 million afghanis in the Mardian district of northern Jawzjan province.
Residents of this district say they used to take their patients to the provincial capital, with many difficulties due to lack of standard healthcare centre in the district.
According to the Public Health Department, the single-storey structure built at a cost of 23.7 million afghanis would provide quality and adequate services for the residents.
Public Health Director Qari Zabihullah Husaini said that the people of the district lacked access to basic health services before, but with the opening of this clinic, they would benefit from adequate healthcare services.
In addition to the construction of a clinic building, Hussain said, they had also opened a 14-bed nutrition section in cooperation with Children’s Support Organization.
Inhabitants of this district welcomed the opening of the new clinic.
Qurban Gulidi, a resident of Mardian district, expressed happiness with the opening of this clinic and said they had to take their patients to the provincial capital for treatment before.
Mohammadullah, another resident, said: “We faced serious problems before due to inadequate healthcare facilities and were forced to transfer our ailing relatives tens of kilometres to Aqcha district or Sheberghan City for medical treatment. Now Alhamdulillah for establishment of this clinic.”
He also said that in most cases the patients’ condition worsened while transferring them to well-equipped health facilities and even lost their lives on the way.
Another inhabitant of the area, Shamsullah, is also pleased with the establishment of this clinic and said: “We are grateful to the Islamic Emirate for constructing this health facility, but also demand a clean drinking water network, proper roads and electricity in our area.”
According to him, due to the lack of standard clinics, he had to travel more than 100 kilometers to take his patient to Sheberghan city for medical treatment.
Meanwhile, Asadullah, another inhabitant, said: “We are economically unstable people and the construction of this clinic is a precious work for us. Now our patients are treated in our own area.”
