KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Security forces have seized 20 different weapons and ammunition in southeastern Khost province, an official said on Monday.
Maulvi Mohammad Rasool, counter-terrorism police chief, told reporters the weapons and ammunition had been seized in the provincial capital and some districts of the province.
He said the weapons included 17 Kalashnikovs, three machine guns, one rocket launcher, two M16, two pistols, 14 landmines, two night binoculars and many light military equipment.
He added seventeen suspects have been arrested in connection with the weapons and ammunition and currently they were being interrogated.
Police had seized 225 different types of weapons and light ammunitions during the past two years in the province and handed them over to DIAG program.
He asked Khost residents to hand over illegal weapons to the government.
At the same time, police spokesperson Tahir Ahrah told Pajhwok Afghan News security forces were working day and night to ensure security and allow no one to carry out destructive activities.
