KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): Nearly 2,000 addicts have been reunited with their families after treatment in northern Kunduz province, an official said on Wednesday.
Police spokesman Juma Khan Khaksar told Pajhwok Afghan News the Counter-narcotics Department rounded up nearly 2,000 addicts in the past two years from different districts.
He said the addicts after their treatment were reunited with their families.
“The addicts were rounded up from Noh Gana district and currently 250 addicts are under treatment in rehabilitation centres,” Khaksar added.
According to him, crimes have decreased with the addicts treatment and 212 drug sellers have been arrested with 1.5 tons of narcotics in the past two years in the province.
Hashmat a treated addict, said: “If drug sellers are prevented, it will reduce the number of addicts, we demand the arrest of drug sellers and dealing them with sternly”.
Mohammad Sediq, another treated addict, also said: “Family and friends all hate us, we are very regretful, but happy in this camp Alhamdulillah, and we are in stable condition”.
According to him, after treatment, the government should give them jobs.
Recently, thousands of drug addicts have been treated in the country.
