Top US, UN diplomats discuss rights situation in Afghanistan

KABUL (Pajhwok): US Special Envoy Rina Amiri has held a meeting with Deputy UN Secretary General Amina Mohammed and discussed support to Afghan women and human rights situation in Afghanistan, according to a statement on Saturday.

On her Twitter handle Amiri said: “on the importance of supporting Afghan women & human rights, concurred that the extreme policies against Afghan women pose a threat to women’s rights in the region & beyond.”

The meeting between the two dignitaries comes on the eve of UN led-Doha meeting which start on Sunday. Amiri participate in the meeting.

Government has not reacted to the meeting between Amiri and Amina but earlier it said that all rights of Afghan citizen had been protection and everyone was entitled to their rights in the framework of Islamic Sharia.
