ASADABAD (Pajhwok): Reconstruction work has resumed on the Managi hydropower dam in Watapur district of eastern Kunar province after a prolonged delay and will take four months to complete.
Shahabuddin Yasir, Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) chief in Kunar, told Pajhwok Afghan News their technical team had started reconstructing the Managi power dam. He said the project would consume 6.3 million afghanis and would take four months to complete.
He said: “This dam remains inactive since last 19 months due to technical problems and DABS has started its reconstruction”
He added the dam was heightened in cooperation of the project’s technical delegation. He described the dam as an important source of electricity generation and revenue.
He said they were trying to complete the delayed basic reconstruction work and put the plant into service as soon as possible
Local residents were happy over the resumption of work on the dam after long delays.
Managi power Dam has the capacity to generate 2.1 megawatts of electricity and electrify about 7,000 households at once and its construction work was started at a cost of 9 million US dollars in 1392 solar year.
