FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): Two workers of a gold mine have been killed in the Kohistan district of northeastern Badakhshan province as a result of the collapse of the mining structure, an official said on Sunday.
Hikmatullah Mohammadi, deputy head of the Information and Cultural Affairs Director, told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident happened on Saturday at around 3:00 pm in the Wakhand locality.
He said the two miners were busy in gold extraction from water and sands when the roof of the structure collapsed on them.
Residents had helped extract the bodies of slain goldmines from soil and debris.
He said another similar incident also happened in the same district which resulted in human and financial losses.
