KABUL (Pajhwok): The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) cabinet has approved a plan of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) for preventing traffic accidents in country.
At a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund presided over a cabinet meeting on Monday, the cabinet tasked relevant agencies with implementing the plan.
A statement from the Administrative Affairs Office said various issues were discussed and important decisions made at the meeting.
The cabinet also gave the go-ahead to the MoI strategy, the statement said, without providing further details.
A report was also presented on assistance provided to farmers by NGOs. The Ministry of Economy (MoE) was directed to carrying out future work in accordance with the procedure and in coordination with relevant agencies.
Traffic accidents have recently increased in different parts of the country.
According to Pajhwok Afghan News reports, about 4,500 people have been killed and injured as a result of traffic accidents across the country in the current year sofar.
