5 of a family killed in Paktia mountain slip

GARDEZ (Pajhwok): At least five members of a family have been killed as a result of a mountain slip in southeastern Paktia province, an official said on Tuesday.

Nisar Ahmad Nijat, head of Disaster Preparedness Department, told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place in the Khosa Chingi area of Wazi Zadran district on Monday night.

He said Mohammad Din was killed along with three sons and a daughter in the incident, which occurred at 10pm.

He added rain-induced flash floods had destroyed 50 residential houses so far in different parts of the province.

On Monday, one woman and a child were killed in a rock slide in eastern Kunar province.
