KABUL (Pajhwok): Committees have been formed for the prompt delivery of emergency assistance to the flood affected people in Baghlan, Ghor, Badakhshan, Faryab and Takhar provinces, a statement said on Saturday.
The government’s Economic Affairs Secretariat on its X handle wrote that a special meeting headed by Mullah Abdul Ghani Beradar, the prime minister’s aide for economic affairs, was called to discuss emergency assistance and relief delivery to the flood affected people in the country.
According to source, the committees had been formed under the leadership of the Ministry of Interior, Economy Ministry, Public Health Ministry, Disaster Management Authority and the Afghanistan Red Crescent Society (ARCS).
These committees will focus on rescue, getting assistance, treatment of injured, the burial of dead and the delivery of essential food items to the victims.
The representatives had been asked to quickly reach the sites and utilize all possible resources to help and support affected people.
In Logar, officials erected a tent to provide support to the flood affected people.
Mohammad Jawad, deputy head of the Youths Affairs section at the Information and Cultural Affairs Department, said the purpose of erecting the tent was to show solidarity with the flood affected people and collect assistance for them.
The Ministry of Justice has asked traders and international institutions to provide all possible support to the affected people.
The ministry’s statement said considering the magnitude of the casualties and damage caused by these incidents, many citizens are in need of urgent humanitarian assistance, and they want the charitable organizations and associations registered in the Ministry of Justice to take immediate action in collecting and distributing aid for these provinces
