KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 315 people have been killed, 1,630 others wounded and 2,600 homes destroyed by flash floods n northern Baghlan province, says the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation (MoRR).

On its X handle, MoRR wrote: “About 315 martyred, 1,630 more injured and 2,600 homes destroyed, and 1,000 animals swept away in Shahr-Sulh and Sheikh Jalal villages of Baghlan-i-Markazi and Shar Shar village of Baraka.”

The figures were based on preliminary information from affected areas, the ministry said, suggesting the casualties and financial losses could be higher.

Mohammad Janan Saeq, a spokesman for the ministry, said fresh figures were being collected and would be shared with the media later on.

The rain-triggered floods killed at least 85 people and wounded 100 more in the four provinces in the past two days, the State Ministry for Natural Disaster Management said on Saturday.

But Baghlan Governor Mullah Alam Majeedi said late on Saturday night 130 people had been killed and around 100 more wounded in Borka and Baghlan-i-Markazi districts alone.
