KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan and Uzbekistan railway authorities have inked an agreement with a private firm for the expansion of the Naibabad station at Hairatan port.
Afghanistan Railway Authority (ARA) Director Mullah Bakht Rahman Sharafat and his Uzbek counterpart attended a meeting in connection with signing of the accord.
ARA wrote on X the two sides also agreed on round-the-clock operations at Hairatan port. Under the agreement, the port will remain active 24 hours with effect from June 1.
The launch of practical work on the Trans-Afghan railroad project also came up for discussion. The two sides agreed on providing necessary facilities to pave the way for the start of the mega scheme.
