PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Recent flash floods killed at least 165 people and injured another 265 in northern Baghlan province, an official said Wednesday.
Ziaul Haq Miakhel, an official of the Information Culture Information department, told a conference that 165 people lost their lives and 165 others were wounded in the recent flash floods in the province.
He said the death toll had been obtained from official surveys by various entities.
Meanwhile, Information and Culture Director Maulvi Mustafa Hashami said the survey about the death toll and financial losses from the disaster still continued.
He said aid delivery to the affected people was underway and reconstruction work on destroyed homes and roads had also been kicked off.
About 4,000 residential houses were also completely destroyed in the floods.
