LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Information and Culture Director of southern Helmand province Hafiz Abdul Bari Rashid has promised to further facilitate journalists’ access to information.
He held out the promise at a gathering the Information and Culture Department organized to praise the activities of journalists.
He said cooperation with journalists would be continued and his department was trying to provide more facilities in terms of access to information.
The official said “We organized this meeting to praise reporters for their work in this province because they conveyed the people’s problems to the authorities.”
Meanwhile, Journalists attending the gathering said there was no obstacle to their work.
Wahidullah Wahdat, head of the Independent Journalists' Union in Helmand, said there was no ban on journalists in the province compared to the past. He said journalists could travel to districts and share people’s problems people with the authorities.
Pajhwok Afghan News reporter Rizwanullah Bilal was among those praised for their activities and awarded appreciation certificate.
