KABUL (Pajhwok): After Syria, Pakistan and Iraq, India and Turkey have also declared a day of national mourning over the death of Iranian president Ebrahim Raisi.

Raisi and his Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and several other officials were killed in a helicopter crash in the country’s Azerbaijan province.

On Monday, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei declared five days of national mourning over the tragic incident.

A one-day state mourning will be observed across India on Tuesday as a mark of respect for Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, who died in a helicopter crash, ANI reported.

The national flag will be flown at half-mast on all buildings where it is regularly flown across India and there will be no official entertainment during the period of state mourning.

Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan also announced one day national mourning over the death of Iranian president.

“We have decided to declare one day of national mourning over President Raisi’s passing,” Erdogan said after a Cabinet meeting at the presidential complex in the capital Ankara.

Earlier, Pakistan, Syria and Iraq also declared one day national mourning in their countries over the incident.

Prime Minister Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund on Monday expressed his grief and sorrow over the tragic demise of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his Foreign Minister.
