Bennett briefs UN Human Rights Council on situation in Afghanistan

KABUL (Pajhwok): UN Special Rapporteur Richard Bennett addresses the Human Rights Council on human rights situation in Afghanistan, says Afghanistan’s diplomatic mission in Geneva.

On 1 April 2022, Mr. Richard Bennett was appointed as the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Afghanistan.

On its x.com handle, Afghanistan’s permanent mission in Geneva said: “On June 18, the UN SR on human rights in Afghanistan, Richard Bennett, will address the Human Rights Council with a powerful report on Taliban's crimes against women & girls. The report highlights the Taliban's systematic discrimination & exclusion of women, painting a grim picture.”

This comes that earlier; the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan had repeatedly renewed its commitment to human rights in the framework of Islamic Sharia Law.
