PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Khairuddin, a resident of Kabul Bagrami district, currently lived in a park in Pul-i-Alam, the capital of central Logar province, away from his family facing dozens of problems.

He lived in a half-damaged room in the Municipality Square Park of Pul-i-Alam and wore a torn cap, short black shirt and yellow trouser.

He told Pajhwok Afghan News during Soviet Union invasion of Afghanistan he lost his father and brother.

He added after some times his mother also died and was left with a brother who was drug addicted and has no information about him from the past two years.

Khairuddin worked as daily wager and as waiter in Kabul restaurants but he was unable to perform his duties in a proper manner.

He said after the loss of his parents nobody helped him in his education career and other affairs.

“I spend some year at Kabul Parks as well but had no work there finally I was forced to come to Logar and build a room for living.”

He said for the first time when he came to Logar he constructed a shadow for himself and covered it with a plastic but after seven years some well-off individuals provided him support so he could build a room for himself.

“Soon after I received aid I built a room three metres long and two metres wide,” he said.

Khairuddin said here in Logar, some people told him to start some work in order to compensate the expenditures.

He said he started work with a cobbler to give him 50 afs per day and during six months he learned the art of shoemaking.

“Now I have learned how to repair shoes, daily I earned up to 200 afs and support myself this way,” he said.

When asked, Khairuddin said: “I wish to have a house, wife, children and relatives, nobody helped me in this regard so far, I do all my work, I prepare food, tea for myself and wash clothes as well.”

He asked the government and well-off individuals for cooperation and support.

Bismillah, another cobbler, said that Khairuddin is known here as Kaka Khairuddin and worked here.

He added Kaka Khairuddin lived in the Pul-i-Alam Park’s room alone for the past four years.

It is pertinent to mention that for decades a large number of Afghans had been displaced or faced other similar issues due to decades long conflict.
