KABUL (Pajhwok): More than 80,000 metric tons of commercial goods were imported and exported through the country’s railways in a week, the Ministry of Public Works (MoPW) said on Sunday.
MoPH wrote on its X platform about 80,301 metric tons of commercial goods were transferred via railways from June 21 to 27.
It said 63,194 metric tons through Hairatan port, 9,284 tons via Aqina port, 6,182 tones from Torghondi and 1,641 metric tons through Khawaf-Hairatan port were evacuated, including fuel, non-fuel and other goods.
About 2,351 tons of the commercial goods included exports mostly dried fruits and pomegranate juice, the ministry added.
MoPH asked traders to contact relevant railway officials of railway in the center and provinces to transport their goods safely, cheaply and quickly through the railways.
It said the Deputy Minister of Railways was trying to provide better facilities for transportation of goods for traders.
