Contracts to set up solar plants with 8MW capacity inked

KABUL (Pajhwok): Three contracts worth $25 million have been inked with a private company for construction of three solar power plants in as many three provinces, officials said on Thursday.

Acting Water and Power Minister Mullah Abdul Latif Mansour told a ceremony that the contracts were inked between MoWP and UFI Bahram Mines Extraction and Processing Company.

Under the contracts, three solar powered plants each having the capacity of 8MW in three provinces (Paktia, Farah, Uruzgan).

The total cost on the projects is said to be nearly $25 million dollars and UFI Bahram Company head Haji Pahlawan was also present.

Mansour said \MoWP had so far many achievements in water management and energy production areas.

UFI Bahram Company deputy head Haji Noorullah promised his company would finish the projects in a specific time and in good quality. He also promised to encourage other businessmen to come to Afghanistan for investment.

According to MoWP information, the solar plants will have the capacity of generating 8MW, 2 MW of power in Paktia and 3 MW of power in Uruzgan and as much solar power in Farah provinces.
