KABUL (Pajhwok): General Director of the Prime Minister’s Office Mullah Abdul Wasi says the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) supports freedom of speech within the framework of Islamic principles in order to empower media activities in the country.
He made the remarks a ceremony marking one-year achievements of government entities at the Government Information and Media Centre (GIMC) here today.
Wasi announced the caretaker government’s support for freedom of speech within the framework of the Islamic principles to strengthening media activities in the country.
He called media a bridge between the nation and the government and said through the media the voice of the nation reaches the government and vice versa and paves the way for good governance.
He added the government, the nation and the media held joint responsibilities for the development of the country, something they must perform with full honesty.
The government was trying to provide journalists access to information, he said.
