PARAKH (Pajhwok): Flashfloods have washed away thousands of acres of agricultural land, irrigation canals, a number of small hydropower dams, culverts and bridges in the Rukha district of central Panjsher province, officials said on Wednesday.
Abdul Raqeeb, a resident of Rukha’s Piawasht village told Pajhwok Afghan News: “Following heavy rainfall, devastating floods swept away the belongings of the residents living near a river.”
Lutfullah, a resident of Chamalwarda village, confirmed: “The floods destroyed agricultural land, hydropower dams and waterheads. We want the government to help the victims of this natural disaster.”
Information and Culture Director Nasrullah Malikzada said the flooding damaged thousands of acres of agricultural land, a number of water canals, small hydropower dams, culverts and bridges.
So far, the official added, they had not received any reports about casualties.
