PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Local officials in Baghlan province say Afghan businessmen, both at home and abroad, are constructing homes for families affected by recent floods in Burka district.
According to Mullah Alam Majidi, the spokesman for the Baghlan governor, 330 homes are planned for flood-affected families in Burka district, with the initial phase involving the construction of 40 houses.
Majidi added the governor had visited the area and selected land for the housing project.
The first 40 houses are being funded by an Afghan businessman residing abroad, and additional support for the remaining homes is expected from other traders.
Residents displaced by previous floods are optimistic about the new housing, but are concerned about the timing.
Atiqullah, a resident, said the displaced families were currently living in tents. With winter approaching, he stressed the need for homes to be completed soon.
