CHARIKAR (Pajhwok): A ruthless three-member kidnap gang involved in abducting Afghans in foreign countries for ransom has been arrested, the police headquarters in central Parwan province said on Tuesday.
The police in a statement that the gang recently asked a family of an abductee in Kabul to pay $30,000 for the release of their son in a foreign country. The man was released after his family paid the money.
Without going into further details, the statement said: “The gang used to torture and ask the families of the abductees in foreign countries to pay money in return for the release of their loved ones.”
One of the men after his release arrived in Afghanistan and reported the matter to police in Parwan province and the police arrested the gang.
The police statement said the detainees had confessed to their crimes and their files would be referred to judicial organs after they are completed.
