KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (MoLSA) says about 74,000 people received vocational trainings in various fields at governmental and non-governmental centres across the country last year.
MoLSA spokesman Samiullah Ibrahimi on Monday revealed the ministry’s achievements at a briefing at the Government Media and Information Centre.
He said as many as 74,738 people were imparted vocational trainings in various fields in capital Kabul and other provinces last year.
He added his ministry organised a National Labour Conference at the Presidential Palace in order to reduce the level of unemployment in the country.
At the conference, he recalled, a number of agreements were inked with 15 government entities to provide 1.5 million people with jobs directly and indirectly for next five years.
Ibrahimi also said work permits were issued to 118,755 local citizens and 3,381 foreign nationals.
Meanwhile, Maulvi Mohammad Zahid Ahmadzai, Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, also said about 6,341 children without guardians were enrolled at government orphanages during the past one year.
He said there was Inspectorate Department of MoLSA and this directorate inspected every factory to solve workers' problems.
He pointed out a departmental labour plan had been sent to the leadership of the Islamic Emirate and they were waiting for its approval.
