KABUL (Pajhwok): New Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has arrived in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq, on his first foreign visit since taking office, a media report said on Wednesday.
Pezeshkian travelled to Baghdad on Wednesday following an official invitation from Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, ISNA news agency reported.
During his three-day visit, he is expected to meet senior Iraqi officials, sign mutual cooperation agreements and attend gatherings with Iranian community members, including businessmen.
Pezeshkian is also scheduled to visit Shiite shrines in the cities of Karbala and Najaf, inspect a railroad project linking Basra with Iran and Irbil, the capital of Iraq’s semiautonomous northern Kurdish region.
