KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Deputy Minister of Interior Maulvi Mohammad Nabi Omari has emphasised on the involvement of youth in government affairs.
He underlined youth’s role at a gathering commemorating the anniversary of former jihadi commander Maulvi Jalaluddin Haqqani at the Information and Culture Department in Khost City on Tuesday.
Omari said that the current system viewed the intellectual development of youth as essential. He urged them to support the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) and avoid being influenced by foreign entities.
He remarked, "Don’t violate IE laws and procedures. If you observe any actions that seem to enslave us to foreigners, you have the right to hold us accountable and label us as spies, traitors, or slaves to outsiders."
He acknowledged the existing challenges within the system but questioned why youth should seek support from outsiders instead of advocating for their own government.
Omari told the audience that efforts were underway to address shortcomings through discussions and consultations with the public.
Participants of the meeting called on IEA leaders to engage youth meaningfully in governance.
Young speaker Bilal Sabawoon stressed the need for intellectual training to prevent youth from falling prey to foreign conspiracies.
He commented, "Every system has enemies --intellectually, politically and culturally. The most formidable opponent is the intellectual one. Our demand is to identify effective ways of youth’s intellectual development."
Other attendees commended Jalaluddin Haqqani's achievements and encouraged youth to follow his legacy.
