JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Two families in the Rodat district of eastern Nangarhar province have reconciled through government officials and tribal elders’ mediation after 14 years, an official said on Saturday.
The enmity erupted due to a land dispute which resulted in casualties as well.
Deputy Governor Mawlavi Azizullah Mustafa told a gathering that marked reconciliation between the families of Rohullah and Qari Khalil have entered this enmity 14 years ago in the Soar Dag area and resulted in the killing of one person and injuring of another.
He said due to the efforts of local officials and tribal elders the years-long enmity had been settled and the two sides agreed to reconcile.
He asked reconciled families to refrain from any kind of rivalry, confrontation and remain committed to the decisions of Jirga.
Several speakers during the gathering talked about peace and its benefits and showed happiness over reconciliation.
Families who have reconciled were thrilled that after a long time, the enmity ended.
Sarfaraz, a member of Qari Khalil’s family thanked Jirga, its members and ulema for ending this enmity and ensuring reconciliation between them.
In the end members of both families who are brothers and nephews reconciled and hugged each other’s.
