Japan promises continued support to Afghanistan

KABUL (Pajhwok): Japanese Ambassador Takayoshi Kormaya has promised his country’s continued humanitarian aid to Afghanistan, the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation said on Thursday.

MoRR wrote on X handle Acting Minister Khalil Al-Rahman Haqqani met with Japan’s Ambassador Takayoshi Kormaya in his office on Wednesday.

Kormaya and Haqqani talked about a constant flow and manner of humanitarian aid.

According to MoRR, the Japanese envoy praised the Islamic Emirate’s efforts in ensuring security, combatting corruption and drugs in Afghanistan and good management of returnees from Pakistan.

“Japan intends to continue its talks and relations with Afghanistan at a high level”: he added.

The diplomat reminded the previous aid to Afghanistan and assured aid from his would continue.

The Acting Minister thanked Japan for its humanitarian aid in different fields, the statement said.

Meanwhile, Haqqani talked about displaced people and returning refugees’ problems and he sought help in the areas of shelter, education, health, vocational training and work opportunities for them.

Also, Pakistan’s ambassador Obaidul Rahman Nizamani met with Haqqani in his office and both discussed problems of Afghan refugees.

Haqqani talked about problems Afghan refugees faced in Pakistan and asked the country not to forcibly deport and harass refugees by considering the principle of neighborliness.

Meanwhile, the acting minister asked Pakistan to adopt a comprehensive policy to determine the future of refugees and to ensure accurate decisions are taken and the refugees do not become victims of politics at any time.

He also mentioned some problems at Torkham and Spinboldak crossings and requested to create facilities for travelers.

In this meeting, Nizamani said a stable and progressive Afghanistan was in the interest of Pakistan and the region. He said every issue could be resolved through dialogue

“Migrants are our own brothers and sisters and addressing their problems is our religious and moral responsibility,” the Pakistani diplomat said.

Nizamani promised that he will share these problems with his leadership and take concrete steps to solve them.

Recently, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Maulvi Amir Khan Muttaqi in a meeting in Kabul attended by ambassadors of some countries and representatives of international organizations said that neighboring countries should be patient about deporting refugees.
