GERDAZ (Pajhwok): Acting Minister of Interior Sirajuddin Haqqani says the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) desires positive ties with the international community.
Addressing a gathering in Syed Karam district of southern Paktia province, the minister said the world’s faith in the caretaker Afghan government was increasing with each passing day.
He added: "We are entering interaction with the world in a legitimate way. Yesterday, the globalists came here with war and force, they took all our Muslim rights, so today we provide them with a legitimate way to come here for interaction and take part in Afghanistan’s reconstruction.”
Although Haqqani did not mention the name of any country or group, but said the people of Afghanistan were divided into tribal and ethnic groups in the past, now they are all together and were living peacefully.
On the other hand, tribal elders of the district also shared some problems with the minister.
Dauod Totakhil, a tribal elder of the district, asked the IEA to implement master plan for the construction of the market in Syed Karam district and complete remaining work on a hospital.
Shafiq Totakhil, another tribal elder, urged the government to reconstruct Dand-i-Patan district linking road with the provincial capital.
In response to tribal elders’ concerns, Haqqani said it was the responsibility of the government to address people’s problems.
He promised construction work on Machalgho Dam in Paktia, reconstruction of the Gardez-Dand-i-Patan road, electricity supply to Syed Karam district and some other projects.
