TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): A newly-established joint law enforcement committee started functioning on Wednesday in central Uruzgan province.
The committee comprising representatives from Police Headquarters, the 4th brigade of the National Army, the Monitoring and Supervision Agency of Orders and Decrees, the Courts, the Intelligence, Vice and Virtue, Hajj and Religious Affairs, Education, Information and Culture Departments, has been set up by governor Inayatullah Shuja.
Governor’s spokesman Qari Agha Wali Inam told Pajhwok Afghan News the responsibility of this committee was to implement law in the province.
He said the committee has the responsibility to implement the Islamic Emirate Sharia law first on government officials and then on common people.
Inam added although no law violation incident had been reported in the province, legal actions will be taken in case of violation.
Such committees would be set up on district level as well, he concluded.
