Futsal competition ‘Jam Qarya’ kicks off in Daikundi

NEILI (Pajhwok): A futsal tournament titled “Jam Qarya” featuring 13 teams has been launched in central Daikundi province, an official said on Thursday.

Afghanistan Football Federation Director Nasrullah Wafa told Pajhwo Afghan News that Sada-i-Qarya Radio sponsored the futsal competition in coordination with the Sports Department and Daikundi Football Federation in the sports gymnasium of Neili city.

He said the competition was aimed at promoting futsal sport, striking unity, among the youth and to protect them from addiction.

On the other hand, at the opening ceremony, head of sports Nasir Haqiqat explained this department always tried to support sports and athletes in the province.

Two matches were played on Wednesday.

In the first match, “Tofan Dasht” team played against “Jehash Eshtarli” team, and in the second game, “Maiwand Neili” team competed with “Jawanan Tofan Markar” team.

Meanwhile, athletes welcomed the holding of the competitions and called such tournaments effective in sports’ development.
