8 convicts punished in public, sent to jail in Kunar

ASADABAD (Pajhwok): The Supreme Court says two criminals and six accused persons have been punished in public after being convicted of crimes in eastern Kunar province.

In a press release, the apex court said that based on the decisions of the Kunar court, the City Court and the Shegal District Court, eight people, including a woman, were charged with robbery, theft and elopement and were punished in public.

Two persons were sentenced to two years of imprisonment each and 39 lashes and one accused was sentenced to three years of imprisonment and 20 lashes.

Two accused were sentenced to 7 months of imprisonment and lashed 20 times.

The fourth accused was sentenced to 15 days of imprisonment and the fifth accused was sentenced to one year of imprisonment and 20 lashes, and the last accused was sentenced to 16 days of imprisonment and 10 lashes.

Before this, people have been given such punishment in some other provinces.
